Welcome to Sabr with Linda: A Journey of Mental Health and Resilience

Assalamu Alaikum and warm greetings to all!

I am delighted to welcome you to my new blog, Sabr with Linda. My name is Linda Hamza, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board-Approved Supervisor based in Euless, Texas. As the founder and CEO of Niyyah Counseling, PLLC, I have dedicated over a decade to providing culturally competent, holistic, and evidence-based mental health services to diverse populations across Texas. 

A Glimpse into My Background

Born in Saudi Arabia to Sudanese parents, I immigrated to the United States during my middle school years, arriving with no knowledge of the English language. This personal journey of adaptation and cultural integration has profoundly shaped my perspective on mental health and the importance of cultural sensitivity in therapeutic settings. 

Graduating from Baylor University—a private Christian institution—as a Muslim student further honed my ability to incorporate religion and spirituality into therapy. My independent study focused on the unique challenges faced by Sudanese Muslim families within the family system, paving the way for comprehensive treatment approaches that extend to various cultures, including Egyptian, Iraqi, Syrian, Palestinian, Pakistani, and, of course, Sudanese individuals and families.

Professional Philosophy and Approach

At Niyyah Counseling, the Arabic term “Niyyah,” meaning “intention,” embodies our mission to help clients learn science-based facts about their mental health, align their actions with their intentions, and navigate the path to recovery, ultimately focusing on living a fulfilling life. 

As a holistic and clinically eclectic therapist, I utilize various evidence-based modalities tailored to each client’s unique needs. My training encompasses:

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
  • Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

I am also an Arabic-speaking, LGBTQ+ advocate, serving both religious and non-religious clients. My team and I are ready to guide you through the road to recovery. citeturn0search16
